Musk and Me Moving Beyond Money

Throughout my life, I’ve always been a dreamer—someone who questions the norm, pushes back against authority, and refuses to settle for "the way things are." It’s a path that hasn’t always been easy. My refusal to go with the flow has alienated people, created friction with institutions, and brought its fair share of hardship. But I’ve always believed in finding better ways to do things—not to change the world on a grand scale, but to make meaningful improvements to the systems and ideas around me. That’s who I am at my core: a dreamer, a challenger, a visionary in my own small sphere.

It’s this mindset that makes me feel such a deep resonance with Elon Musk. Musk isn’t just a businessman; he’s almost otherworldly, a gift from the universe to humanity. In many ways, I see him as a modern-day Prometheus, bringing fire to mankind in the form of electric cars, space exploration, and technologies that once seemed like science fiction. He has the rare ability to not only envision a better future but to take the steps—bold, audacious steps—to make that future a reality.

A Kindred Spirit in Vision: Musk, Trump, and the Power of Transformation

When I look at Musk, I see qualities I admire and even a reflection of parts of myself. Like me, Musk is not driven by money. Many people in my life have misunderstood me, thinking I was money-oriented because I relentlessly pursued deals or business ventures. My lifestyle may have led others to assume I was consumed by wealth, but that was never the goal. I have always used money merely as a tool—a means to an end, not an end in itself.

For me, the true goal was to realise the dream, complete the deal, and create something new, special, different, and transformative. Once that task was complete, I needed to move on to the next challenge. Like a hungry shark, I felt that if I stopped moving forward, I would die. I see this same drive in Musk, in how he continually builds, reshapes, and redefines industries.

A recent interview with Elon Musk at the New York Times DealBook Summit reaffirmed this shared philosophy. When asked about the mass exodus of advertisers from X (formerly Twitter), Musk, visibly indignant, made it crystal clear that money cannot buy him. He stated, "If somebody's going to try to blackmail me with advertising, blackmail me with money, go f--- yourself."

His words struck a chord with me because no one has ever been able to buy me either, and they’ve tried! Money cannot compromise principles or vision.

This audacity—this refusal to let money dictate action—is something I understand deeply. For Musk, as for me, the focus is not on financial gain but on pursuing a vision, building something transformative, and breaking boundaries.

Elon Musk's ventures—including Tesla, SpaceX, SolarCity, Neuralink, Starlink, The Boring Company, X (formerly Twitter), and xAI—are not driven by the pursuit of wealth. Instead, they focus on solving problems, pushing boundaries, and creating a better future. The financial gains are merely a byproduct of his relentless commitment to innovation and transformation. His earlier achievements, such as Zip2 and X.com (which became PayPal), laid the groundwork for his current endeavours, showcasing a consistent dedication to challenging norms and advancing technology.

In this, I see a kindred spirit. No, I’m not Musk’s equal—I don’t have his IQ, his monumental successes, or the resources to bring my dreams to life on his scale. I’m hardly worthy to be his shadow, let alone his "Mini Me." But in him, I see the same spirit of defiance, the same drive to question convention and push forward against the odds. Musk has been a silent mentor to my mind, inspiring me to continue dreaming and challenging the world around me.

Musk and Trump: A Meeting of Visionaries

Recently, President-elect Donald Trump announced the formation of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), appointing Elon Musk and Indian-American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to lead this initiative.

This move underscores Trump's recognition of Musk's visionary capabilities and Ramaswamy's innovative approach, entrusting them with the task of streamlining government operations and reducing bureaucratic inefficiencies. Musk's proven track record of turning ambitious ideas into reality aligns with Trump's objective to bring transformative change to the federal government.

Musk’s visions aren’t pipe dreams; they are plans. He has proven time and again that he can turn the improbable into the inevitable. I imagine Trump, in his characteristic style, recognising this rare gift and pulling Musk closer into his circle, perhaps even finding himself influenced by Musk’s relentless drive to improve the world.

A Modern Merlin Guiding the King

This relationship between Musk and Trump reminds me of the Arthurian legend of Merlin and King Arthur. Musk embodies Merlin—a figure of boundless wisdom and vision, prophetic yet practical, capable of guiding a leader toward greatness. Trump, like Arthur, possesses a certain strength and charisma but needs the counsel of a brilliant mind to navigate the complexities of leadership and progress.

Merlin’s role wasn’t to rule but to advise, to steer the king with a combination of foresight, intellect, and unwavering belief in the greater good. In much the same way, Musk’s presence in a leadership role would not be about wielding power but about providing the insight and innovation necessary to drive meaningful change. His dreams for humanity are not abstract or fantastical; they are grounded in science, data, and an unrelenting will to succeed.

A Life of Dreaming and Doing

When I look at Musk, I don’t just see a towering figure of our age; I see someone whose actions and beliefs mirror my own. It’s not that I’m inspired by Musk; rather, I feel a profound sense of recognition. The qualities I’ve held dear—challenging the norm, refusing to settle, and striving to create something transformative—are not mine alone. In Musk, I see proof that these ideals resonate beyond myself, that the restless drive to improve and innovate is a shared human endeavour.

In a way, Musk embodies what I have always been: a disruptor with purpose, a dreamer with a plan, and a challenger who dares to defy the status quo. While my achievements may never reach his monumental scale, I take comfort in knowing that the ideals I’ve lived by—the vision, the audacity, the dogged refusal to compromise—are echoed in others shaping the world in extraordinary ways.
